I hope Stephen Hawking’s anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist politics aren’t erased from history, or obscured in our collective remembrance of him.
UM PLEASE TELL ME MORE
- Pictures of Stephen Hawking marching against the Vietnam War in his youth and speaking out against the Iraq War 30+ years later
- Stephen Hawking on the dangers of capitalism
- He ran over Prince Charles’ toes in 1976 and regretted not doing the same to Margaret Thatcher
He criticized Trump & co for being blatantly anti-science and anti efforts to combat climate change as well. In short, his views were informed by his occupation as a scientist. And I’m sure that his anti-capitalism especially was influenced by the understanding that it is capitalist expansion that is destroying the earth’s biodiversity.
Oh, and he was also against the Israeli occupation of Palestine.
